Our History

Niche Pilates Studio’s journey began in 2016 as Centered RVA, a 300 sq ft space with just one reformer, TRX bands, and a few foundational props. From the very beginning, the focus was simple: create a welcoming space for intention, community-centered movement.

2016

In 2017, founder Jaclyn rebranded the studio as Niche Fit Studio and moved into a larger space featuring a lower-level lobby and a single upstairs studio, totaling approximately 1,200 sq ft. This transition marked the beginning of a growing community and a clearer focus on Pilates-based training.

2017

As demand for Pilates continued to grow, the studio evolved into Niche Pilates Studio in 2019. At that time, Niche expanded into the entire lower level of the building, adding a second studio and a semi-private training room, bringing the total space to 2,200 sq ft. This growth reflected a deeper commitment to Pilates education, client experience, and instructor development.

2019

After seven years at 2309 W. Main St., the studio has once again outgrown its home. In February 2024, Niche moved into its current expansive space designed to support both the community and growth. The studio now includes a large open lobby that fosters connection and conversation, a 16-reformer studio, a dedicated mat studio, and a fully equipped apparatus room featuring Towers, a Cadillac, Chair, and Barrel. It also includes a semi-private space and a private training room to support individualized instruction.

2024

In addition to this expansion, Niche has grown into the building next door, adding a dedicated strength training space, a professional filming studio to support educational content and its free YouTube channel, and expanded areas for workshops and Niche Instructor Training. This growth reflects a return to Niche’s roots while supporting a more intentional, well-rounded approach to movement, education, and community.
