Niche Mat Instructor Training is designed to help you build a strong foundation in Pilates teaching while growing your confidence, clarity, and connection with clients. Through a thoughtful blend of anatomy-based education, intentional programming, and practical teaching tools, you’ll learn how to create classes that are adaptable, effective, and rooted in sound movement principles. Whether you’re just beginning your teaching journey or looking to deepen your skill set, this training gives you the support and structure to grow as a well-rounded Mat instructor.
The Niche Mat Training program offers a comprehensive, anatomy-based curriculum designed to strengthen your technical knowledge and teaching skills. You’ll learn how to cue with clarity, build intentional class progressions, and support a wide range of clients through group and virtual instruction. The program is designed to help you teach with confidence, precision, and adaptability.
Our programs are built to balance depth with flexibility so you can develop real teaching confidence without overwhelming your schedule. Niche graduates are known for clarity, adaptability, and a human-centered teaching style.
Your time includes:
- Online coursework
- Lectures
- 45 practice teaching hours completed independently from the training.
- 10 observation hours
- 20 personal practice hours
- Participation in the NIT student community
Your training includes access to a comprehensive curriculum, our Foundations of Anatomy Course, and ongoing support throughout your certification journey. You’ll receive direct access to our Education Manager for course-related guidance and mentoring, as well as our Education Coordinator for logistics, community questions, and program support. You’ll also have access to community boards, peer connection, shared learning opportunities, mentorship, and workshop discounts to support your growth throughout the program. Our in-person training offers a more immersive, hands-on learning experience with real-time feedback, personalized support, and deeper connection to the instructor training process. This format allows you to refine your technique, build confidence, and develop your teaching skills through practical experience. In-person training also includes 10 complimentary observation hours, 10 complimentary class passes for personal practice, and priority application consideration for our Apprentice Program.
Our online training offers a flexible and accessible way to study while maintaining the same high standard of education. With thoughtfully structured content and expert instruction, it’s designed to support meaningful growth on your own schedule.
1. Register and Begin Your Training
Once you register for the program, you’ll receive immediate access to your course. Begin by watching the welcome video and reviewing the NIT Student Welcome Packet, which outlines each step of your certification journey and provides guidance throughout the program.
2. Complete Your Course Modules
Your training begins with the Foundations of Anatomy course, followed by strategically structured modules designed to guide you through the material in a thoughtful progression. Each module includes educational content, resources, and an open-book quiz. Once you successfully complete each quiz, the next module will unlock.
3. Utilize Resources and Support
Your resource section will remain unlocked throughout your training, allowing you to revisit materials, review resources, and continue building your knowledge at any time. Online students may participate in optional virtual mentoring sessions led by our Education Manager, while in-person students receive hands-on training and support throughout their experience.
4. Complete Practice Hours and Prepare for Test Out
After completing all online modules, mentoring sessions (if participating online), in-person training (if applicable), and required practice hours, you’ll submit your completed hours to our Education Team. You’ll then register and schedule your test out. Detailed test out requirements and preparation materials can be found in your course resource section.
5. Become a Niche Certified Instructor
Upon successful completion of your test out, you’ll receive your Niche Pilates Certification and be prepared to pursue instructor opportunities at Niche Pilates or other Pilates studios.
6. Continue Your Growth with the Niche Apprentice Program
After certification, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for the Niche Apprentice Program, designed to support your transition from student to instructor through hands-on studio experience, continued mentorship, and real-world teaching opportunities. Niche Mat Training prepares you to teach in a variety of settings, including boutique studios, gyms, community centers, and virtual spaces. You may also offer private sessions, apply to teach at Niche, or continue growing through the Apprentice Program. Beyond certification, the program is designed to support your long-term teaching career and earning potential.

Paid in full
- Online: approximately 1.5 months to break even.
- In-person: approximately 2 months to break even.
Payment plan
- Online: approximately 2 months to break even.
- In-person: approximately 3 months to break even.
ROI calculations are based on teaching 5 hours per week at a base rate of $35. After certification, many studios also offer attendance bonuses in addition to an increased base rate. In many cases, instructors can earn $50 to $100 per class when base pay and bonuses are combined.
